The Help Desk as a Community-Building Tool for Online Professional Development

Published by The Journal of Interactive Technology & Pedagogy (JITP), this co-authored paper explores how the inclusion of designated online “help desks” can enhance content-rich online professional development events by mitigating participant frustration and isolation while amplifying community building by navigating technical and program queries as co-learning, collaborative journeys. Based on my experience with the Media Education Lab’s 2020 Summer Institute in Digital Literacy (SIDL).
